First day of Kindergarten

After not posting to the blog for far too long.....I figured the first day of Kindergarten was a big enough reason to post.  We had one very excited little kiddo.  She is super excited to wear her school uniform.  She picked out all skirts and jumpers, but I got a couple pair of shorts for her too.  I was definitely more anxious than she was.  We all walked to school together as a family.  Dropoff was a bit chaotic, but we hung out in the gym with the other kindergarten parents.  There is only one other person in the entire school that we've ever met, and she actually ended up in the same class as Greta.  Although we haven't seen this little girl in probably a year, she and Greta hugged upon seeing each other and made plans to play together every day.  Made me happy that she found an ally so quickly.  We said our good-byes and Greta marched down the hall with her new class.
She LOVED her first (and now second) day of school.  She really hasn't told us much about the day, but the first thing she wanted to know when I picked her up was if she got to go to Latchkey before school too.....apparently she was semi disappointed that we didn't take her to Latchkey before school on the first day.  Her only complaint both days has been that she hasn't got to read at school, but she makes up for it by reading even more at home each night.  We had dance on Monday evening and she was sooooo EXHAUSTED.  Probably not the best idea on the first day of school, but she has a performance this weekend, so the teacher really wanted all of them to make it to practice.  She literally fell down multiple times, and not just in her normal klutzy way, but in a "I can't stand on my feet any longer" type way.  We made it through dance and dinner and had a super early bed time.  We are definitely having to make big adjustments from our summer bedtime schedule.
Enjoy the pics!

Easter Weekend

Beth, Andy & the boys came down for a visit Easter weekend. We loved having them here for a couple days. We hit up the zoo with some friends.

Went out for a nice dinner. Even got compliments on how well behaved our kids were (what? Whose kids are those?)

Loved Wes pushing the bunny around in the stroller.
The Easter egg scavenger hunt was a blast. Apparently Berit did not enjoy it as much as the big kids.

4 month old Berit

Cannot believe this little peanut is 4 months old already....and has a tooth poking through too.  I even remembered to take her 4 month pics on April 2.  Yeah me!!!  So I figured I'd try to document a bit about what she's doing these days, since I don't actually get it into a baby book or anything that organized.
She is overall a really happy baby.  The only time she's unhappy is when she's hungry.  Give her some milk, and she's good to go again.  She loves to smile at everyone and we all love it when she giggles.  She is cooing a bit more and sort of talks back to us now.  Up until a week ago, she was the worlds best night sleeper.  She's been getting up once during the night now for about a week though.  At first I thought growth spurt, now I think teeth, but hopefully we can get back to sleeping through the night soon.  She loves to put everything in her mouth.  Often I pick her up from daycare and she's just chewing on a washcloth.  She does the same at home with blankets, stuffed animals, her hands, bibs, etc. Her other big thing that she does all.the.time is what we call "ab-crunches".  She will never just lay or sit still.  No matter if you lay her on the floor, your lap, her rock-and-play....she always pulls herself up. I would seriously have abs of steel if I did the insane amount of crunches this baby does ever day.
Berit's 4 month check-up went great.  No concerns.  She is almost on the growth chart for weight, but shot up a good deal since our last visit.  The dr was impressed by her head control.  I told him it's easy cuz she has such a tiny little peanut head, but he really kept going on about how great she holds it up.  I guess she's advanced at head control :-)

Our favorite things about 4 month old Berit....
Greta - "she's such a good girl when she's in a good mood."
Sam loves her smiles.  I love when she talks to me.

4 month stats:
Weight - 10 lbs 8 oz (0%)
Length - 24.3" (36%)
Head - 15.4" (10%)

Greta style

Yep, this is the outfit Greta chose to wear last Saturday.  The flower in the zebra's hair matched the flowers on her skirt which went with the flower pattern on the pants.  The slipper socks she wore just because she liked the hearts.  Gotta love her fashion sense!
